A native of Oceanside, California, Brandon began appearing in television commercials at the age of four. In 1984 he began working in episodic television, starting out as “Smith Sterling” in the CBS sci-fi/fantasy drama “Otherworld”. A few years later and after several guest-star appearances on ABC sit-coms like “Mr. Belvedere”, “Full House”, “Step By Step”, he landed the role of “Doug Porter” on “The Wonder Years” – a role that would span 20 episodes and 4 seasons and garner him a Young Artist Award.
Between seasons of “The Wonder Years”, Brandon starred as “Ben Hanscom” opposite Tim Curry, Jonathan Brandis and Seth Green – a role he shared with the late John Ritter in the Stephen King mini-series “IT” on ABC, which is to date, one of the most successful and well-loved adaptations of his work.
Brandon is also an accomplished stage actor having appeared in over 50 plays and musicals. Equity and regional theater highlights include: Man of La Mancha (Inland Theater League Award), Pirates of Penzance, Show Boat, Camelot, Once Upon a Mattress, Sweeney Todd. Regional premieres: Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Who’s Tommy and a concept recording and workshops for Great Expectations with Broadway legends Hugh Panaro and Cloris Leachman.
